Sugar, Spice and Everything Nice

During a brisk evening walk in search of an Birthday outfit in Soho I  found myself in my favorite stores with lots on my wish list. See I'm the type of girl who must Love what I buy. I must see a future in a piece of clothing, bag or shoe. The item needs to speak to me and move me to inspire. To find the right pieces to compliment its colors textures and silhouettes. Sooooo here goes it... For some Sugar in my life I pick this Chanel Necklace full of pearls, charms and beads.. but what moved me about this necklace is the stand out charm non other than a "Carousel".
Keeping it Spicy south of my Chanel necklace my feet will stalk the streets of the city in these show stoppers....Louis Vuitton's "Spicy Sandal" the same ones seen in their ad on Madonna's feet. Now you can't get any spicier than Madonna. Chanel meets Vuitton now that is a recipe for everything nice.

"The Grammy's Baby"

M.I.A blesses the stage nine months pregnant to the date with Jay-Z, Kanye , Lil Wayne and T.I for a memorable performance of "Swagger Like Us". In true form she was vibrant, cutting edge and just like always held her on with the boys. Reminiscent of Lauren Hill in her prime M.I.A showed the world just how much swagger she has at nine months. I don't know many who have that much swagger...M.I.A does it her way and makes you love her while she is doing it. Dressed in a  Black and Sheer dress with polka dotted cut outs for her breast and belly  paired with white on white high top sneakers and Ray Ban shades. She showed the world how proud she was to be where she is in her career and in life. M.I.A was quoted saying "When I found out I was pregnant "Paper Planes" was in the iTunes top 10. Even thou she may not have won the award for song of the year for "Paper Planes" which I personally feel she was robbed of , she still made her presence felt at the Grammy Awards. Who says you can't rap and with the hottest rappers in the game and experience the miracle of childbirth all in one week... M.I.A "The Carousel" Loves you and your Grammy baby......

"Cream of the Crop"

Very early in life I found myself transfixed on certain people or things never really understanding why.  Never knowing that I was being molded as the hours went by. I adored Vanity from the 80"s cult classic film "The Last Dragon"  like no other. I loved all her shiny sequin dresses/tops and her natural way of coming on the screen and demanding the viewers eyes to never leave her. She had a flare that will forever be engraved in my mind. After her I was always keeping my eye out for something or someone that moved me. If I'm not moved then I'm bored. Every designer loves and I mean loooooves when they find that one or two models or that someone who they know will forever represent their intentions in every form. A chameleon in fashion and in life. My personal muse had to be the "Cream of the Crop" in a word "Fierce". An endearing beauty with seemingly a heart of gold, a sparkle in her eye and self-confidence above all. Flipping pages in magazines I found  Ms.Liya Kebede and from that point until now she has alone been "my model inspiration" and she still moves me to create. Only today I made the decision to place a newbie in her company. Ms. Arlenis Sosa has a young fresh face and has just popped on the since just about a year ago. Both beauties are from foreign lands but have taken America by storm showing everyone just what naturally being "Cream of the Crop" gets you. Both have history making contracts with huge cosmetic companies. Ms. Liya Kebede represents many brands now but Estee Lauder was her head turner for the whole industry. Now Ms. Arlenis Sosa is the fresh new face for Lancome. Proving that beauty comes in all different shades and that the color lines in what the world finds as beautiful has now become ever changing. "Cream of the Crop" is a tribute to them and all the collections they inspire for me and just for them being their selves. February Black History month what a better time to celebrate these women of color.
